Cup of Gold

An Original Botanical Art Print

FLORAL PICTURE By

T.J. Mundorff

WORD PICTURE By

Don Blanding

Printed 1947

This vintage Cup of Gold is one of a group of “leaves” retrieved from a worn copy of In An Old HAWAIIAN GARDEN AN ALBUM OF HAWAII’S FLOWERS, the 3rd edition, published in 1947. It is an authentic 1947 print, not a modern reproduced copy.

Mr. Mundorff became very well known during the 1940’s for his lovely airbrush renderings, particularly for those of the Hawaiian flowers.

The print although over 50 years old, is in flawless condition with colors still bright and crisp. Just a slight bit of browning may be noted, consistent with a publication from the 40s, but absolutely no soiling or foxing. Measuring 8 1/8” x 10 ½”, it is printed on parchment and signed. It has been matted in a basic botanical green with a foam backing, for a completed dimension of 11” x 14” sized to fit into a standard stock frame.

Additionally, Mr. Blanding’s “Word Picture” has been mounted inside of a Mylar sleeve on the backside along with a printed attachment attributing credit to the artists.

Mr. Mundorff’s Cup of Gold is truly a lovely vintage piece. Presented in a protective Mylar envelope, ready for framing, it would make a special focal point in any room.

NOTE: All matted prints by T.J. Mundorff are matted in the identical color of product so that they may be presented singularly or grouped. A slight variation, although not noted at this time, could possibly exist as the result of different dye lots during manufacture.
