THE STONE CHURCH AT KAWAIAHAO is the story of a church long in the dreaming and planning process. The first stones were laid in 1838 under the direction of Governor Kekuanaoa of Oahu with completion of the mighty project in 1842. During the following 150 years, the church has stood as a citadel in a changing world till today we find it dwarfed by high-rises, yet none the less majestic. Filled with etchings and paintings that have accumulated over the years, Mrs. Damon chronicles the actual construction, the physical characteristics and changes that have taken place to the church and surrounding area.
This is a remarkable record of the building, the maintenance and clergy of a structure familiar to anyone having spent time in Honolulu. Only one edition apparently published, with no subsequent updates, THE STONE CHURCH is fairly scarce book and a wonderful addition to an Island library. Priority Mail Delivery well packed to prevent damage, Insurance Available and International via Air at cost. (Please anticipate considerably higher shipping costs for foreign destinations) 4% GE tax applicable to residents, State of Hawaii.
